RISE-Health, UBI, Covilhã | 7 March – 11 April, 2025

This course aims to provide the basic concepts of acquiring and analyzing fluorescence microscopy images in biomedical research, as well as a basic understanding of the theory and algorithms used in these processes, preparing the participants to use these tools in their research projects.
The theoretical sessions will provide the theoretical basis for fluorescence microscopy techniques and the basic concepts of image acquisition and analysis in biomedical research. The hands-on practical sessions on three different microscopes, and the theoretical-practical sessions on image analysis by using freely available (ImageJ/FIJI and QuPath) and commercial (Imaris/Huygens) softwares, will enable the application of the concepts and the building of appropriate workflows for a given research objective.
Target audience: MSc and PhD students, researchers, and scientists at all levels.
Course duration: 40–50 hours.
