F-Techniques Worskhop Series: FLIM – January 13-15, 2026

The F-techniques workshop series will provide fundamental hands-on training on fluorescence-based microscopy techniques that study molecular interactions and dynamics at sub-diffraction scales of light microscopy. The series has been tailored to a proficient audience within PPBI, especially facility staff and power users with existing applications for the techniques, ultimately aiming at expanding technical expertise and biological applications for research carried out within PPBI.

The Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) workshop offers a three-day, hands-on immersive introduction to the technique, combining foundational lectures with practical training in both Lisbon (FCUL) and Porto (i3S).

Participants will learn the core principles of FLIM, explore different imaging systems and technical implementations (Leica and PicoQuant). Lectures will be broadcast online, to cover a wide audience. Practical, in-person sessions will cover image acquisition, data handling, phasor analysis, and fitting approaches, as well as key biological applications, providing applicants with a balanced and comprehensive learning experience.
